#5 Thou shall go on romantic ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway in Ooty
Catch the 12 pm or 4 pm train from Ooty to Coonor. Passing through breathtaking landscapes, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway ride is an experience of a lifetime. It takes close to an hour to reach Coonor. Adds Traveller Vinay,“Ooty is one of the few hill stations that still retain their old-world charm. There is a lot to do here like boating on Ooty Lake or visit tea gardens. Or you just have the option to stay in a nice colonial hotel, sit by the fireplace and do nothing!”

After you are done exploring the touristy sights and sounds of Gangtok, hire a cab and visit Tsomgo Lake. There are a number of local people who offer rides on their yaks here. This is one of those ‘do-nothing’ vacations you can take together. Stay at a hotel or homestay of your choice, enjoy local Coorgi cuisine, especially Pandhi curry, and take long plantation walks in coffee estates. #10 Thou shall go glacier trekking in Sonamarg & bakery hopping in Srinagar
No, it isn’t cliché. Plan a romantic holiday in Kashmir, but take the road less travelled. Instead of a shikara ride on Dal Lake or skiing in Gulmarg, go glacier trekking on Thajiwas Glacier and camp there. Couples can also visit the local bakeries of Srinagar that create the most aromatic and delicious breads served with ‘qawah’. Says Traveller Vivek Sharma, “On the Thajiwas glacier, staying in huts is recommended. They are economical, neat and tidy.”
