Washington, May 13 (ANI): Legendary journalist Barbara Walters has confirmed late Sunday night that she will step down from the chat show 'The View' in 2014.

The 83-year-old talk show host will make a formal announcement on Monday's 'View.'

ABC News said that Walters would continue to host the show as well as her usual number of specials in the intervening year.

In a statement, Walters said that she was pleased with the move, asserting that she is very happy with the decision that she has made, the Huffington Post reported.

Her announcement confirmed the rumours that started doing rounds late March about her bidding adieu to TV after over 50 years of career. (ANI)
