It’s a proven fact. Baddies of Bollywood love the bald look and the one thing all blockbusting action flicks have in common are villains with shiny melons. While Bollywood heroes have generally avoided the polished plain head, our villains have been more forthcoming when it comes to experimenting. Here’s a look at the top five villains who made the bald look trendy.
Sanjay Dutt: In the remake of 1990s blockbuster ‘Agneepath’, a bald Sanjay Dutt will be seen reprising Danny’s role as the evil Kancha Cheena. Initially, Sanjay was supposed to achieve that look using prosthetic makeup but shooting at 40 degrees made it difficult to keep it on. So, Sanjay actually went ahead and shaved his head to achieve the right look.
When Ra One walked out of the cyber world into the hoardings across the city, it sure looked like the ultimate villain of Indian cinema. Coupled with bulging muscles, tattooed body, red body suit and bald pate, Arjun’s look was more popular than his do-gooder counterpart G.One.
Kulbhushan Kharbanda: Every time, the villain in ‘Shaan’ smiled and moved his hand across his bald head, the audience would get jittery thinking about his next move. Incidentally, Shakaal's character was based on Blofeld from the James Bond series. With his all-black costume and malevolent laughter, Shaakal became one of the most fearsome villains of all times.
Anupam Kher: Dr Dang’s ‘thappad ki gooj’ made Anupam Kher one of the most memorable villains of all times. With a name that sounds like a Chinese dictator, Anupam Kher plays the role of a captured terrorist who devises evil plans to wreck havoc on India. Needless to say, the film scored on the patriotic quotient and became one of the Kher’s best performances in a negative character.
Feroze Khan: Feroze Khan’s small but significant character in ‘Welcome’ was his last on-screen appearance. With a bald pate and snazzy suits, Khan played an underworld Don with a heart. The film managed to evoke laughter and Khan went down the Bollywood history as the lovable Don RDX.
