Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra wanted a grand premiere for his last directorial venture JAB TAK HAI JAAN (JTHJ). Days after his demise, his wife Pam Chopra said, in accordance with his last wishes, she has decided to host a grand film premiere to celebrate the release of JTHJ.
"I want to give my husband an unforgettable farewell. Accordingly, we have decided to have a grand premiere for his ultimate film, JAB TAK HAI JAAN, exactly the way he wanted it," said Pam Chopra in an official statement issued to the media on Saturday.
"This is a fitting tribute to a man who would have had it no other way. I have asked my sons Aditya and Uday to go ahead with all the preparations. This premiere is our way of celebrating his illustrious life, rather than mourning it," she said.
Consequently, Yash Raj Films (YRF) is planning the premiere to be held on Nov 12, details of which are being worked out.
Chopra died on Oct 21 after spending a week in hospital coping with dengue fever. He was 80.
JAB TAK HAI JAAN features Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.
It is scheduled to hit the big screen on Nov 13.
