'Zanjeer' (2013) Gets Into Legal Trouble

High Court Says 'Zanjeer' Trailer Cannot Be Aired

Zanjeer (2013), remake of the 1973 blockbuster, Zanjeer, has run into trouble. Prakash Mehra's film remake which is being produced by his son Amit Mehra has gotten into a legal tangle.


Amit, who had bought the rights from his brothers, US-based Sumeet and Mumbai-based Puneet, has defaulted on payments. Thus, the two siblings have terminated the contract that gave Amit the remake rights.


The Arbitrator upheld the termination of the contract, which made Amit approach the Bombay High Court. As per the High Court order, Amit has been given a reprieve to shoot the film. However, he cannot release the remake until futher orders.


Rumour has it that Sumeet and Puneet are interested in upholding the Arbitration Order, interalia, termination of the project. The remake stars South superstar Ram Charan Teja along with Priyanka Chopra.
