Nima Ghassemi On Building Grambutler and Skyrocketing His Brand and Business Through Instagram

I came to Vancouver, Canada from Iran with my family at the age of 8, had a very hard time in school because I felt like my creativity was limited, so I spent a lot of time trying to build my own business in high school. My first few startups failed but it only motivated me to learn more. My mom was very keen on getting me to graduate and also supported my ambition to build my own companies. Eventually, I got my BBA in marketing, but quite frankly I barely opened any textbooks during my 4 year term because I was too busy self-educating and figuring out what businesses to create. I loved making deals and grew up around my dad who was very committed to his work and built an empire from scratch, so from a very young age, I always wanted to build my empire and surround myself with powerful people. My first registered business failed at the age of 18 as I lacked interpersonal skills and did not have a strong network. It showed me that it’s not going to be an easy process. Marketing was the main subject in business that was interesting to me as it involves creativity and psychology, and it was an opportunity for me to learn a valuable skill that applies to every single business in the world. In my early 20’s, I worked with a few companies as a marketing advisor and in 2016, I launched a business called Grambutler Marketing. 

In detail, tell us about your journey behind creating this valuable brand.

Before Grambutler was born, I built a following of about 60,000 on my company’s Instagram page and started generating revenue through partnerships and hotel booking referrals. I hired a few ‘top’ agencies to help me grow and partnered up with a few big account owners; they were all terrible in business, wouldn’t show up to meetings and took days to reply to emails. Thus, I saw this as an opportunity to build something on my own. The first year was tough and we invested a crazy amount of time into this business including reinvesting every dollar we made back into growth; we started making good revenues after 3 months so I knew this was an opportunity to build a real scalable company. I met my partner through Instagram as he owned an account that I wanted to partner up on and we did not talk on the phone or meet in person for 12 months, all communication was through WhatsApp. Branding is what people say about your company, and everyone who know us, know that we are working 24/7 to improve our company and results for clients. We offer 24/7 support and consulting to all of our clients and people thought I was crazy when I announced this, but it has become a statement in the industry, in our team, and for all of our clients that we are here to produce results every single day. I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into building a reputation that exemplifies hard work and real results, and now we are at a stage where most of our business comes directly from word of mouth referrals.

We help individuals and businesses use Instagram to generate brand awareness, exposure, leads, sales, network and build an engaged following. We do not require passwords for our services unless we directly manage the account, and that was the breaking point as people realized there’s no risk of hiring us and that everything we do is legitimate. Most businesses are so focused on selling their products and services that they forget about the benefits they offer to clients. I knew it’s not about the service it’s about the benefits and results so I sold the vision of Instagram being the go-to marketing channel to generate leads, promote and connect with your target audience, and that’s exactly what Instagram became. We can blow up any account we work on, simply because of our expert knowledge and years of experience. It also helps that we have 15 accounts with 7M followers on our accounts. We’ve worked on accounts in many niche markets including health and wellness, real estate, luxury goods, travel, beverage, fashion, and so on. At the moment, we own the largest real estate network on Instagram with over 55,000,000 unique accounts reached per month (growing every day) on our accounts. The best part about what we did was that we built a completely different marketing model for our clients, and the results were so good that we had a 98% retention rate in our second year in business. The key to marketing in today’s fast-paced digital world is repetition and consistency, and this was an idea we brought to reality for our clients, and they reap the benefits daily. We’ve repeated this for so many years: Instagram is the greatest networking tool ever. That idea is the main reason for our start-up success because we really believe it and have experienced it first hand; now we offer it to people who are starting to realize the value and benefits of instagram marketing. 

What challenges did you face while creating your brand? What are the challenges you go through on an everyday basis?

It’s not fun spending 12+ hours a day on my phones and laptop but I do it every single day because I have a vision that starts with results for partners and clients. I have 4 phones and our company provides 24/7 support to every single client regardless of their growth package. That is tough and overwhelming at times, but that’s how you create a respected brand name for a start-up business. Everybody wants to grow their account on Instagram and gain a loyal following for business and personal benefits, but not many people are willing to commit countless hours a day, create new content weekly, and use Instagram as a communication/networking channel to expand their business and personal life from all angles. The possibilities that Instagram has created for all of us is beyond belief and I do not understand or relate to people who are not taking advantage of this. 

What is your future vision and how do you wish to take your success to the next level?

These next few years will be interesting, millions of people have suddenly realized the power of Instagram and we are positioned to help them dominate. Aside from Instagram, the game of marketing is changing every day; I strongly believe Artificial intelligence is the future of marketing and the biggest challenge we face is our ability to compile an enormous amount of data that is going to be available to us in order to make better and faster decisions. Machine learning and digital resources can help us compile the data, but the real intelligence for marketing is always going to come from humans making calculated decisions using technological resources. This is where the marketing world is heading and companies such as Facebook (who owns Instagram) and Google are going to be dominating this space. Predictive analysis is one major area that I am learning about that I plan to implement into Grambutler Marketing in the upcoming years to provide more effective services and results for all of our clients. 

How do you deal with stress, work pressure on a day to day basis?

I can’t lie about the fact that I stress a lot because I am directly involved in over 50 companies on a daily basis including start-up projects and many of our clients who need marketing advice far beyond Instagram, but I built a business that allows me to travel anytime, anywhere, with whoever I want, and that is my stress relief. I am learning to use stress as an energy to work harder and move faster. Work pressure is motivating. As entrepreneurs, it’s our responsibility to take on the pressure and whoever can’t handle it should stay out of the game. 

What advice would you give to someone who has a dream of creating something of his own and make a living through it?

You are who you surround yourself with. Don’t listen to people you wouldn’t trade places with, and you have unlimited information at your fingertips, educate yourself with credible sources, listen to and learn from experts in whatever field you want to enter, and understand that your biggest asset in life is time, spend it wisely.
