Despite the facing huge screen crunch due to Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat continued its splendid run at the box office. In fact, the costume drama witnessed an upward trend yesterday due to the partial holiday of Maha Shivratri. It raked in Rs 3.75 crore yesterday and currently stands with the grand total of Rs 260.75 crore. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the collections on his Twitter account, “#Padmaavat is UNSTOPPABLE.. [Week 3] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 6.30 cr, Sun 8 cr, Mon 3.20 cr, Tue 3.75 cr. Total: ₹ 260.75 cr. India biz.”

The film is again expected to earn well today as there is a holiday in some states due to Maha Shivratri. The magnum opus will cross the Rs 265 crore mark by its third week at the box office. Padmaavat stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. The story of Padmaavat revolves around menacing Sultan of Delhi Alauddin Khilji, who wishes to conquer the queen of Chittorgarh Rani Padmavati. Apart from the lead cast, the film also stars Anupriya Goenka, Jim Sarbh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Raza Murad in key roles. The film is based on an epic poem written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi named Padmaavat.
