Parents try to sell 6-day-old baby for Rs 10,000 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar (Odisha), June 20 (ANI): A six-day-old baby, who was allegedly sold by his parents for Rs 10,000 in Bhubaneswar was rescued and handed over to the child welfare department on June 19. Financial hardship compelled parents to sell their newborn, Childline Director Dr Benudhar Senapati said, “Today Childline has rescued a six days old baby with the help of Commissioner Police Bhubaneswar. The baby was allegedly sold by his parents for Rs 10,000 in Bhubaneswar. The child was purchased by a couple living in Mahi Sahi Slum. The Child has been rescued and placed in special adoption centre. Childline has filed complaint against the involved ones at Kharabela Nagar Police Station.”
