The Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Pati Patni Aur Woh kept the momentum strong despite the new releases.
Pati Patni Aur Woh had a great first week. Despite clashing with Panipat, the comedy drama performed strongly even on the weekdays. It faced the new releases this Friday but performed exceptionally in the second weekend.
Based on the 1978 B.R Chopra’s classic, Pati Patni Aur Woh which starred Sanjeev Kumar, the 2019 got thumbs up from the audience as per BookMyShow.com. It became the highest opening film and highest opening weekend of Kartik Aaryan, closing the first week collections with Rs 55.97 crore.
Even though the comedy drama faced three new releases – Mardaani 2, Jumanji 2 and The Body, it did not deter from its position at the ticket window. The multiplexes in the urban centers were good as the Friday collections touching Rs 3.05 crore. The collections on Saturday sprung a surprise when Pati Patni Aur Woh grew to Rs 4.88 crore followed by Rs 5.52 crore on second Sunday. The comedy drama dropped heavily on second Monday with Rs 1.91 crore but remained stable on Tuesday with Rs 1.88 crore on Tuesday.
As per early estimates, the collections remained super strong on Wednesday, collecting around Rs 1.70 crore, bringing the 13 days collections to a solid Rs 74.90 crore.
The budget of Pati Patni Aur Woh is Rs 40 crore (Production Cost: 30 Crore & Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore). Pati Patni Aur Woh is directed by Mudassar Aziz who earlier made popular films like Happy Bhaag Jayegi and Happy Phirr Bhaag Jayegi.
