Hurricane Dorian is gaining intensity as now a possible Category 5 storm, and is barreling towards the Bahamas, along with Florida and the Southeast coast of the United States.

According to the National Hurricane Centre, Dorian currently has winds up to 175 mph (281 kph). Those winds have the power to strip roofs from houses, uproot trees and possibly destroy homes.

The NHC has issued a tropical storm warning for the Florida coast, and has warned residents to follow evacuation instructions and have a plan for when the storm hits.

Here’s how some Floridians have been preparing.
