Piers Morgan has offered to pay the parking tickets of any NHS workers received while they are working.
The Good Morning Britain presenter made the pledge live on the show following reports that traffic wardens were still handing out parking fines during the government lockdown measures aimed to tackle the spread of the coronavirus.
Morgan, 54, said: “NHS workers, if any of you get a parking ticket at a hospital when you are working, I will pay it. And I will then go to the government to have the battle. Send it here to Good Morning Britain.”
TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp, who was a guest on the show via live video link-up, added: “I will go halves with you on those parking tickets.”

GMB co-host Susanna Reid, who is at home in self-isolation, was quick to hold Morgan to his promise on Twitter.

Parking rules have been relaxed in London during the lockdown, but it has been reported that some NHS workers are still receiving parking fines while working on the frontlines in hospitals.
Reid, 49, has been self-isolating at home after her son developed a cough. She is adhering to the latest government advice, which says people should isolate for 14 days if anyone in their household shows symptoms of a persistent cough or high temperature.
Morgan has continued to host the show alongside colleagues Ranvir Singh, Charlotte Hawkins and Lorraine Kelly. Kelly’s own show Lorraine has been put on haitus while she joins Morgan in the GMB studio. The presenters are being kept at the recommended two-metre distance from one another.
And with a minimal staffing of film crew and producers, Morgan has had to do his own make-up before the show.
