20 Mar 2021: Prequels are coming! HBO planning three more 'GoT' spin-offs

It seems HBO is planning to create an entire universe around its mega-hit series, Game of Thrones.

Apart from the already-greenlit prequel series, House of the Dragon (being readied for a 2022 release), the network is considering three more spin-offs, with Rome creator Bruno Heller slated to work on one of them.

These prequels would focus on The Sea Snake, Nymeria and Flea Bottom.

Crossover: Heller will helm the spin-off titled '9 Voyages'

One of the projects has been tentatively titled 9 Voyages, which will be helmed by Heller.

This one will follow Lord Corlys Velaryon or The Sea Snake, the head of House Velaryon.

This character would also appear in House of the Dragon (played by Steve Toussaint), hence hinting toward a potential crossover.

Deadline had first reported about this, which was confirmed by THR.

Old tale: '10,000 Ships' will be set 1,000 years before 'GoT' events

The second project has the working title 10,000 Ships, which will feature Princess Nymeria, an ancestor of House Martell and founder of the kingdom of Dorne.

This story takes place 1,000 years before the events in GoT, thus is a much older event in the Westeros timeline than any other spin-offs planned.

The third project remains untitled but will be set in Flea Bottom.

House Targaryen: 'House of the Dragon' is the only confirmed prequel

Dragon is the only official prequel at this point and filming is scheduled to begin in the UK from next month.

It will focus on House Targaryen and set 300 years before Mother of Dragons rose to power and a dangerous war tore apart Westeros.

It'll star Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, Paddy Considine, and Matt Smith.

Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal are the showrunners.

GoT universe: Show on 'Tales of Dunk & Egg' also on cards

There are also buzzes of HBO making a show based on George RR Martin's Tales of Dunk & Egg novellas, and a GoT animated series.

GoT is the studio's pride and remains one of the most successful shows ever made. It ran for eight seasons and earned 59 Emmy awards.

No matter which one of these goes live, they'll have big shoes to fill.
