By The Editors of Eat This, Not That!
Two of your favorite foods from college come together to create the perfect, addictive snack.
Pringles is already known for its savory flavors: Pizza, Cheddar Cheese, BBQ, and Ranch, to name a few. But the Kellogg’s snack brand decided to up its inventory with a new, limited-edition flavor—Top Ramen Chicken. That’s right, the same instant noodles you survived on in college is now in chip form.
Pringles combined forces with Nissin, the brand behind the instant Top Ramen noodle packages, and released the new flavor for a limited time only. Considering packaged ramen is one of our 75 Unhealthiest Foods on the Planet, it’s safe to say the Pringles will fare a little better. The chips are exclusively available at Dollar General for about $1.50 a tube, according to Cosmopolitan.com.
Testers in the Cosmopolitan office declared the new Pringles flavor is “dangerously addictive” and the chips taste like someone “poured the [Top Ramen] flavor packet on a can of plain Pringles.” For someone who loves instant ramen and Pringles chips, this new flavor seems like a dream in a tube.
How the Ramen Pringles Nutrition Stacks Up
Although nutrition information wasn’t immediately available, one serving of original Pringles (16 chips) clocks in at 150 calories, 9 grams of fat (2.5 grams saturated), 16 grams of carbs (less than 1 gram of fiber, 0 grams of sugar), and 1 gram of protein. Same for the Cheddar Cheese, Loaded Baked Potato, and Sour Cream&Onion flavors, which means Top Ramen Chicken will most likely have similar nutritionals. That’s a little better than a serving of Nissin Top Ramen Chicken, which is 190 calories, 7 grams of fat (3.5 grams saturated), 26 grams of carbs (2 grams of fiber, less than 1 gram of sugar), and 5 grams of protein.
This isn’t the first time Pringles has released a limited flavor. The brand is known for its creative concoctions, especially in international markets. Shoppers on social media have snapped pics of Buffalo Blue Cheese, Paprika, and Sabor Jamón Pringles.
Looks like Top Ramen Chicken is joining the ranks of the out-of-the-box, yet totally delicious, Pringles flavors. If you happen to see one of the elusive tubes at your local Dollar General, make sure you try them ASAP before they are gone. And don’t forget to snap a pic to share on social media—your ramen-loving friends will be jealous.
