Puducherry reports 32 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally rises to

38,910 Puducherry, Jan 26 (PTI) The union territory of Puducherry reported 32 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours while no fresh death was reported from any of the four regions, a top Health department official said on Tuesday.

The 32 fresh cases took the overall tally to 38,910, Director of Health Department S Mohan Kumar said in a release.

The number of active cases in the union territory stood at 295.

The death toll remained at 645 as no fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions-Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam, he added.

The 32 new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 3,276 samples. Mahe recorded 15 of them followed by the Puducherry region (12), Karaikal (3) and Yanam (2).

The Health department Director said as many as 17 patients were discharged after recovery during the last 24 hours.

As many as 37,970 patients had recovered and had been discharged so far, he added.

The fatality and recovery rates stood at 1.66 per cent and 97.58 per cent respectively.

He said that as many as 5.62 lakh samples were tested so far and 5.10 lakh samples out of them returned negative.PTI Cor SS PTI PTI
