Punit Malhotra, Ayan Mukerji and Rohit Shetty; 5 Dashing Bollywood Directors Who Can Give Our Actors A Run For Their Money

·3-min read

Bollywood works on the motto that you need to look good all the time to sell. This rule usually applies to the actors in our industry and most of them follow it like the gospel truth. However, when it comes to other professions on a film set, no one expects much from them, since they have to stay behind the camera.

Especially when it comes to a film director, one imagines them to have ruffled hair because of all the stress with headphones around their neck and a serious, brooding look. But there are many directors out there, who are defying that trope and with their good looks and fashion style, they possess the capability to give our actors a run for their money. Farhan Akhtar is an excellent example of how successful this transition can be and here’s a look at some of the other directors, who possess the capability to repeat the feat:

Punit Malhotra

Honestly, when one looks at Punit, the first thought is never that he is a director. With his amazing good looks and ripped physique, Punit can easily qualify as one of the Dharma acting talents. If not that, at least a model. But don’t be distracted by his appearance as Punit is a marvel behind the camera as well. He has helmed three films for Dharma till date, and it seems like it’s time that Karan gives Punit his first acting gig as well.

Ayan Mukerji

Ayan and Ranbir Kapoor are like an inseparable duo. Starting from his first film, Wake Up Sid, to his third, Brahmastra, up for release, Ranbir has been a constant for Ayan. And it seems like the director has taken some lessons in the looks department from the actor as well, as he can easily qualify as an actor with his appearance. As for the unversed, Ayan even has some on-camera experience as well from the time he appeared in the song Tumhi Dekho Na in Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Rohit Shetty

Well, with his good looks and that strong physique, I am sure no one would mind if Rohit comes up as the next policeman in his cop universe. He already shows his love for extravagance and cars through his films and his adventurous side on Khatron Ke Khiladi each year. The show even gives him the on-camera experience, so after Singham, Simmba and Sooryavanshi, it seems like Shetty is the next cop that the world wouldn’t mind seeing.

Shashank Khaitan

If someone has any doubt over Shashank’s acting capability, they are in for a shock. Not many people noticed, but actually the Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania director had a full-fledged role in the 2012 Yash Raj Films release, Ishaqzaade. The film that marked the debut of Arjun Kapoor opposite Parineeti Chopra, had Shashank play the role of Arjun’s big brother. And after seeing him as a judge on Dance Deewane, no one would mind seeing some more of him on screen.

This Kalank and 2 States director is a bit media and social media shy, but with the looks that he possesses, if he wants, he can surely get an acting offer whenever he desires. His directorial work has already won a lot of hearts, and maybe it’s time for him to give a chance to another avenue and try out his luck at acting. Surely, Karan Johar wouldn’t mind launching him there too.
