Probably one of the most boldest actresses in Bollywood today, Kangana Ranaut had proven her mettle with earth-shattering performances right from her first film, Gangster. As a bubbly and fearless Rani in Queen, she just added a feather on her cap. As the film completed 6 years today, let us see how the comedy-drama fared at the box office in our special report.
“The core of mans’ spirit comes from new experiences. This will lead to self-realization of who you really are.” – Quote from Sean Penn’s Hollywood filmInto The Wild.
Queen tells a self-realization story of a simple and conservative North Indian girl, Rani, who goes for a honeymoon alone after she is vehemently rejected by her fiancée.
From the director of Chillar Party and last year’s Super 30 , Vikas Bahl‘s Queen was one step toward the quality cinema. Hats off to him for creating niche drama with well-written screenplay that will keep you glued on to the screen till the end. Cinematography was outstanding. Background score geled well with the mood of the film. Editing by Anurag Kashyap added crispiness to the pace. I am a big fan of Amit Trivedi‘s music. The brilliant composer mixed the Punjabi folk song with urban touch and you will love every bit of it. Queen belonged to queen of hearts – Kangana Ranaut. The supremely talented actress proved the naysayers that she could do more better than the drug addicted psychopath performances. She was mind blowing as charming and daring Rani who learns her capabilities through various experiences. Lisa Haydon will surprise you as free-spirited single mom Vijay Lakshmi. Rajukumar Rao does well in the supporting role. Thanks to the wonderful appreciation, Queen won the Best Hindi Film and Best Actress awards at the 62nd National Award.
