Rahil Azam: 'Indian Television Industry Is 95% Female Dominated'- EXCLUSIVE

·1-min read

Actor Rahil Azam, who is portraying the role of DSP Anubhav Singh in Maddam Sir, feels the content of the Indian Television industry is 95% female dominated, which leaves very little space for male artists to excel in such an environment. However, the actor says, "By the grace of Allah, I have always been blessed to make my presence felt on the show for over 2 decades. Hence, this time too I had no second thought of accepting this offer in a totally female dominated show. Moreover, I have a loyal fan following which I am very confident about."

On being asked about the reason for choosing the show he says, "Firstly, I needed people to see my lighter comic side. Not that I have not done comedy in the past but the artist in me needed to remind the tv audience that it is me and I am trying my hand at comedy yet again. Secondly, after playing intense characters back to back in shows like Tu Aashiqui and Dil Jaise Dhadke Dhadakne Do, I needed a breather from serious performances and from the responsibility of carrying a show on my shoulders. And what better than Maddam sir could I have ever asked for?"

Talking about the experience of working with ensemble cast he says, "It is a pleasant environment over the sets. The cast and crew are polite and friendly. By far they all are pleasant acquaintances. The bonding that they all have off screen makes the on-screen chemistry look more promising to the audience," Rahil signs off.
