The Supreme Court on Saturday granted the Hindu litigants permission of the Babri demolition site. It said that a 5 acre land must be given to the Muslim parties to build a mosque.
The Babri Masjid was demolished on 6 December, 1992. Karsevaks who demolished the mosque had gone on a rampage in Ayodhya burning Muslim homes and businesses. The demolition of the Babri Masjid had resulted in communal riots that had killed 2,000 people according to official number.
