Amanda Holden and Andy Murray named Rear of the Year

The Rear of the Year winners for 2019 have been crowned - with some surprising celebrity bottoms rising to the top.

Amanda Holden fought off competition from past winners Carol Vorderman and Rachel Riley to be named the female winner, while Andy Murray beat Harry Styles and Idris Elba to the men’s title.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Holden, 48, may have a much smaller bottom than celebrities such as Kim Kardashian who are known for their rears, but contest organiser Tony Edwards explained that was part of her appeal.

He said: “She has a particularly shapely, well-toned and, above all, proportionate and understated rear — in contrast to the somewhat exaggerated, fake, cosmetic look for bottoms recently imported from the USA.

"They won't win any style awards in the UK.”

Tennis ace Murray, 32, also has a rear on the smaller side, and Edwards praised both of them for their pared-down look.

He said: “Amanda and Andy’s celebrity rears represent perfect examples of today’s toned and firm gluteus maximus – with quality rather than quantity as the essential fashion keynote.

“Biggest is rarely best when it comes to bottoms.”

Holden succeeds 2018 winner Michelle Keegan, while Murray is the successor for the award to Poldark star Aiden Turner.

Voting ran from August 2018 to July 2019 and saw Holden pick up nearly 12,000 votes.
