Rooney has said she posted a string of fake stories over the past few months, making them only viewable for one Instagram account, to see if they would be sold to the press.
Claiming that Vardy's account was the one behind it, Rooney also wrote: "This has been a burden in my life for a few years now."
Rumours of a rift between the pair's husbands was sparked in 2016 amid claims that footballer Rooney was not happy about the amount of social media posts from his teammate Vardy.
Now in light of the drama between the two women, some may be wondering who Vardy is and what she is famous for.
The 37-year-old is wife to professional footballer Jamie Vardy, whom she married in 2016 at Peckforton Castle in Chesire.
It is her third marriage. Vardy was previously wed to first husband Mark Godden and second spouse Steve Clarke.
The WAG is currently pregnant with her and the sportsman’s third child together and also has two children from previous relationships.
The 37-year-old has made numerous appearances on television, including becoming an I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! campmate in 2017 where she was the third contestant to be voted out.
Vardy has also made a name for herself on ITV panel show Loose Women, where she opened up about a cervical cancer scare earlier in the year.
She appeared along with her husband on the latest series of Celebrity Gogglebox in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
The mother-of-four confirmed she was pregnant with her fifth child back in August as she shared an Instagram post detailing the happy news.
She posted a snap of her children holding up signs which read: "They can't be serious??", "The adventure continues…", "I'm so cute, Mummy and Daddy wanted another," and lastly "Coming soon".
