In response to the shootings in El Paso and Dayton last weekend, celebrities have called for action. Reese Witherspoon, who described the acts of violence “unbearable,” called for “common-sense gun laws.” Some celebrities, like John Legend, harshly criticized President Trump; he called out “the racist venom coming from the President’s mouth.” Legend’s angry tweet implied that President Trump “regularly inspires killers.” Chris Evans, Cher and Sarah Silverman were among others who responded to the shootings.
‘Little Mermaid’ Live: Auliʻi Cravalho Becomes Disney’s Second Colorblind Casting of Ariel
“The Little Mermaid” is making headlines again with ABC’s version of the story. The star of “The Little Mermaid Live!” is Auli’i Cravalho, a Hawaiian actress best known for her voicing of Moana. In July, it was revealed that Disney had cast Halle Bailey as Ariel for the live-action theatrical remake of the film. Bailey, the first black Ariel, will be joined by Queen Latifah as Ursula, and Shaggy will portray the crab Sebastian. Fans have been impressed with Disney’s “colorblind” approach to casting decisions.
