In February, Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan made a big announcement of them collaborating together for an action-comedy film. Now, the latest is that the two are planning to remake Amitabh Bachchan’s 1982 superhit film Satte Pe Satta, but there’s a twist in the tale.
A source close to the film makers has revealed to DNA, that two other parties are locked in a legal wrangle over the remake rights of this Raj N Sippy directorial. “The tussle for the rights to remake Satte Pe Satta has been on in court for over a couple of years. Hopefully, it will be sorted soon,” says the informer, adding, “Rohit is certain that he won’t proceed with this subject until he acquires the rights. That’s the process he has always followed whenever he has opted to remake any movie. Of course, he will re-tell the story in his trademark larger-than-life style. But things will be clearer only after the rights issue is resolved.”
In February this year, Farah had confirmed the news of she directing a film for Rohit Shetty. She had told BT, “Sometimes, the universe conspires to give you what you didn’t even imagine. Together with Rohit, who I genuinely love as a brother and whose work ethic I respect and share, I can only promise a mother of all entertainers! I can’t wait to say ‘Roll, camera...’ for this one.” While Rohit Shetty had added, “It’s a privilege for my banner to have Farah direct a film for us, as she is talented and hard working. It will definitely be a wonderful association. I can’t wait to start work with this powerhouse of talent. I am looking forward to it.”
