Not wearing a mask in a public place in Jharkhand may leave you poorer by Rs 1 lakh after the state cabinet approved a proposal on the same under the Contagious Disease Ordinance on Wednesday. The government has also announced a jail term of up to two years for violating lockdown guidelines.

Not maintaining public hygiene and spitting in public are also among the punishable offences, under the Ordinance.
Recently, six members of the same family in Dhanbad died of coronavirus infection, sending the whole region into a state of shock.
Jharkhand has reported over 6,000 cases and over 50 deaths due to COVID-19, even as India’s total cases shot past 12 lakh on Thursday.
