Ryan Reynolds donating 30% of UK sales of his gin to nation's bar staff

Ryan Reynolds' gin brand Aviation American Gin is donating 30% of the proceeds from its online UK sales to the nation's bartenders.

The Deadpool star's brand started its #TipYourBartenders initiative in the US but it’s now travelling overseas as it teams up with UK distributor Proof Drinks and The Whisky Exchange to donate to The Drinks Trust until 31 May.

Reynolds, 43, said in a statement: “The UK is not only home to the world’s most discerning gin drinkers, but also the ‘gintenders’ themselves.

"In an effort to support the bartenders we know and love, we will be donating a tip for every bottle purchased online to support the invaluable work The Drinks Trust continues to do.”

Ryan Reynolds' gin is helping out UK bartenders.

A 700ml bottle of Aviation American Gin will set you back £29.99, with more information available here.

Pub and restaurant closures came into effect in the UK from Friday 20 March. No date has yet been given for when they will reopen.

Other stars flogging alcohol to help with the effects of the coronavirus include Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis who have launched their own "Quarantine Wine".

Upon sharing the news, Kutcher revealed 100% of the sales would be going to "COVID-19 relief efforts".

"100 percent of the proceeds go to a handful of charities that we have done homework on … to make sure that their overhead is low enough where they actually do the work they’re supposed to do,” Kunis said in a video about the product. “So you can look at this as a charitable donation.”
