With Indian Cricket board president Saurav Ganguly facing the heat over alleged conflict of interest in his multiple deals with brands, it has emerged that Ganguly had to turned downs deals from central sponsored of BCCI.
Over the last year figures have been pointed at Ganguly’s involvement with brands which are direct rivals of BCCI’s sponsor. While there is speculation that Ganguly may be asked to explain his stance in the AGM on December 24. The former India captain is very clear on where he stands on the issue of conflict of interest.
Sources closed to Ganguly said he had to turn down offers from online education app, a giant car manufacturer & a company which run IPL team in the past few months after becoming the president. All these brands are central sponsor of BCCI.
The brands confirm the development. “We wanted to rope in Ganguly as leading personality Indian sports & we were in talks with him. However, the association didn’t happen since the app is a sponsor of the Indian cricket team,” a company official said.
