Shaheen Bhatt recently launched her book, I’ve Never Been (Un)happier which chronicles her tussles with depression throughout her life. During the event, she shared her initial resistance to get get help. “I was very adamant that I figure out how to fix it myself,” she said.
The entire Bhatt family came together to support her. Soni Razdan and sister Alia read excerpts from the book and talked about their reaction when they got to know. “Parents should create an environment where kids can talk to them”, said Soni Razdan. Her elder sister Pooja praised her for making an effort to normalize the conversation.
Mahesh Bhatt, who has written the foreword for the book shared his own experience with functional depression and emphasized on the fact that depression is a biochemical disorder that can be genetically passed on.
Shaheen was diagnosed with depression at eighteen, after five years of already living with it. In ‘’ve Never Been (Un)Happier she shares her daily experiences with depression.
