20 Apr 2021: Shravan of composer duo Nadeem-Shravan 'very critical' after contracting COVID-19

Shravan Rathod, one half of the legendary music composer duo Nadeem-Shravan, is said to be "very critical" after contracting COVID-19.

He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai a few days back after testing positive and is currently on ventilator support.

The composer's son, Sanjeev Rathod, has confirmed the news of diagnosis and hospitalization to a leading portal.

"Please pray for him," he pleaded.

Details: Rathod is diabetic and his lungs have also been infected

Sanjeev mentioned that his father has other co-morbidities.

The singer's long-time friend, lyricist Sameer, further detailed his medical condition.

Speaking to ETimes, he said, "Shravan is diabetic and with this infection, his lungs have been totally infected. He has also developed heart issues."

The portal also contacted the doctor overseeing the famed composer's treatment, who said he was "critical" and on "ventilator support."

Medical update: Experts looking after the famed music composer

Commenting on his condition, Dr. Kirti Bhushan said, "There is a bit of heart enlargement and his pumping has been affected."

The doctor went on to add that several experts were stationed to supervise the 66-year-old's health.

He said, "We have made a medical team of physicians, cardiologists, a diabetologist, and an intensivist, all of who are overseeing his care."

Backstory: Nadeem-Shravan duo composed tunes for 'Aashiqui,' 'Saajan,' 'Pardes,' 'Sadak'

The Nadeem-Shravan duo, comprising Rathod and Nadeem Akhtar Saifi, ruled over Bollywood in the 1990s.

They have worked on movies like Aashiqui, Saajan, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Sadak, Pardes, and Deewana.

To recall, Saifi had been in exile after the murder of their former music label manager Gulshan Kumar in 1997.

However, he kept making music with Rathod while living outside India.

Looking back: The music composer duo broke up in 2005

Saifi was the key accused in the T-Series head murder case but in 2002, he was acquitted of all charges by a Mumbai sessions court.

Despite that, the composer could not risk returning as his arrest warrant was never withdrawn.

The duo finally broke up in 2005, after which Saifi's first project as a solo music composer was the film Ishq Forever.
