23 Apr 2021: Shravan Rathod of Nadeem-Shravan duo dies of COVID-19 complications

Renowned music composer Shravan Rathod, one-half of the famed Nadeem-Shravan duo, died of COVID-19 at a Mumbai hospital yesterday. He was 66.

The news was confirmed by Rathod's son, musician Sanjeev Rathod. He told PTI yesterday that his father "passed away around 10:15 PM. Please pray for his soul."

To recall, Rathod was admitted to SL Raheja hospital on Monday in a critical condition.

Looking back: He was diabetic, had developed lung and heart issues

Some days back Sanjeev had confirmed to a portal that his father had tested positive for the coronavirus and had co-morbidities, which made his condition even riskier.

Rathod's long-time friend, lyricist Sameer, detailed that the composer was diabetic and how COVID-19 had infected his lungs "totally."

"He has also developed heart issues," the Saajan lyricist had added.

Rathod was eventually kept on ventilator support.

Remembering: 'My Shanu is no more,' grieved Nadeem Saifi

An inconsolable Nadeem Saifi remembered his partner with affection, speaking to Bombay Times.

"My Shanu is no more...We never lost touch and no physical distance could ever separate the two of us," he said, adding that Rathod's son and daughter-in-law were also sick and he was in regular contact with them.

"Feeling so helpless that I cannot be there physically for them," he lamented.

Paying respect: Salim Merchant, Pritam, Shreya Ghoshal condoled his passing away

The entire music industry was in grief.

Composer Salim Merchant was emotional, as he said: "Nadeem-Shravan have given us some of the biggest hits in the 90s. COVID-19 has taken so many lives. Don't know when will this end... Really saddened by this news."

Would-be mother Shreya Ghoshal called Rathod a "genuine humble human being" and mourned his passing.

Pritam tweeted his condolences too.
