Shweta Tripathi praises The Critics Choice Shorts and Series Award’ on including OTT
After prominent actors from the digital platform have come forward and expressed their excitement about web series being added in the esteemed FCG awards in the category The Critics ChoiceAward’. Actress Shweta Tripathi talks about the OTT platform being recognised at such a prestigious award and feels that in the world of technology where everybody relies on Phones this is an opportunity for an artist like her to convey good content stories.
Shweta Tripathi says, ” the FCG recognizing web series as one of the primarily foams abhi it is true everybody it’s been consumed from our mobile phones to our laptop screens to big tv’s so I think a lot of good content has come above but as an artist specially this is what I can say for myself that there are so many stories I want to tell, so many characters I want to play and with every project we try to push boundaries and make something worthwhile. And obviously that risk involved and the kind of the characters you play they can toll on you because its very emotional job as well as psychological job so when that is recognized and that is appreciated it feels it makes you very very happy so and we need this because sometimes what happens is with fund of shows you might don’t have the budget but then if you get an award ten there is publicity around there more than publicity there is just this validation and I think that validation feels good”.
Earlier, actors Pankaj Tripathi, Maanvi Gagroo, and Sayani Gupta came forward and spoke about the move taken by FCG to add web series in their awards categories.
Actress Shweta Tripathi is best known for her character as Shaalu Gupta in ‘Masaan’, where the actress also won an award.. ‘The Trip’ as Ananya and how can we forget ‘Golu Gupta’ from Mirzapur.
The awards will be a celebration of the best of Indian produced content and along with it, web series that will not be limited to just one language but will include entries from across the nation.
In December 2018, the Film Critics Guild and Motion Content Group collaborated to announce one of its kind Critics Choice Short Film Awards which features a panel comprising of India’s top film critics. The first edition of the awards was a major success amongst the masses and it is safe to say that this time around, we will see more quality content being presented by artists across the nation. And the addition of web series into the award categories just increases the scope for quality content.
