Simi Deol ace ing the digital media game with her bollywood portal Instant Bollywood


Founded in 2012 by Simi Deol, InstantBollywood is now the most sought after entertainment portal by production companies, brands, and celebrities to broadcast photos, news, and other announcements about upcoming movies and as well as their private lives.

Having been raised and educated in Chicago, Simi moved to India after she got married. While at home, she was using Instagram and realized that no major established Bollywood channels had a presence on there. While other social media like Facebook and Twitter were already making their mark in India, Instagram was relatively unheard of.

Realizing this window of opportunity, Simi created her channel InstantBollywood and wasted no time in starting to work on it. In the initial days, she would post pictures here and there sometimes missing a day or two as well. However, she soon realized that even at that rate she was getting a good amount of followers. This realization prompted her to take it more seriously and she began to make posts daily.

Her hard work paid off and she soon reached the 100k mark in 2014, and almost a year and a half later she had 500k followers which she celebrated by ordering a special cake in the shape of the Instagram logo. By then InstantBollywood was being noticed by people from the Industry and soon followed by who’s who of the industry such as Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, and many others.

Pretty soon, industry powerhouse T-Series approached Simi for promotions regarding a forthcoming film, and the rest, they say, is history. In the present date, InstantBollywood as a brand has close to 20 million followers on different channels. Amazon, Reliance, Book My Show, LG, Viacom, Pepsi, Koovs, Beardo are just come of the brands that have worked with InstantBollywood. Almost every big film today, keeps a separate budget for promotions on Instagram and InstantBollywood.

While talking about what we can hope to see in the future, Simi says that her goal is to create unique video content which her fans will love. She is working on a YouTube channel and hopes that if everything goes as planned the audience will get to see something awesome. She also states that it has been her dream to give a platform to upcoming talent who are looking for a break and do not have the necessary support or financial backup.
