Sirio Berati, the visual artist who creates ethereal philosophical photo manipulations
If you are a fan of digital art, you might have heard about Sirio Berati, an Albanian visual artist based in Montreal, Canada. He went viral not long ago for his Game of Thrones manipulations on Instagram, which as well got the attention of the Indian and other international media.
Sirio’s visual and digital art is most of the time associated with a philosophical narrative, thoroughly explored throughout his work, where he talks about identity, existentialism, class and culture. This time, Sirio opted for Photoshop manipulations inspired by the early renaissance art, again, with a tinge of philosophy behind his creations.
Berati explored and worked with many different realms of art, fields and mediums, although his work mainly focuses on photography and film making. Many of his photographic manipulations include magic, butterflies and other juxtaposed realities, which makes his work to feel magical.
In his latest works, inspired by the biblical story of Adam and Eve, Sirio talks about the constructed idea of Hell and Heavens, while challenging the overall concept as we know it.
“These manipulation aims to question Heavens and Hell and how it might differently be portrayed” Sirio says. “I love to create ideas. I believe that everything in our world, starting form the state we live in, is a consolidated idea. I feel that, with my philosophical approaches to manipulation and photography I can offer something fresh. I can offer a perspective and use my imagination and my platform to influence people in the right way as an artist.”
Sirio’s instagram is full of unique creations and works of art. He creates interesting surrealistic images in which he uses irrational and imaginative elements to express emotions.
Sirio’s work can have different dimensions and vary in context and themes while his artworks mostly are associated with a spiritual narrative. With his digital art, he as well wants to raise awareness in particular issues. While completely self-taught, and only having worked with Photoshop for a few years, Sirio’s work is indeed inspiring.
