There is some relief for Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim as The Sky Is Pink grew well on its second day at the box office after a poor start .
Directed by Shonali Bose, who earlier made critically acclaimed films like Amu and Margarita With Straw, The Sky Is Pink is based on a novel of same name. While The Sky Is Pink makes a comeback for Priyanka Chopra, it is also an acid test for Farhan Akhtar who is suffering in his career as an actor since his last few films like The Lucknow Central and Rock On 2 has been a disaster at the box office. Though The Sky Is Pink had interesting trailer which has already garnered 30 million views till now. The early reviews have been great but the opening of the film is below par with just 10-15% occupancy in the morning shows across India and collecting Rs 2.50 crore by the end of its day.
As per trade estimates, The Sky Is Pink grew well by 60% on the second day and collected Rs 4 crore, bringing the two days total to Rs 6.50 crore. This is some relief after a poor start but still has a long way to go. The competition from both WAR and Hollywood film, Joker, is strong at the box office. The earnings is expected to pick up on Sunday as this is a urban-centric film and should do well in the city multiplexes.
