The Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim starrer The Sky Is Pink opened on a poor note across leading multiplexes in India on its first day at box office .
Directed by Shonali Bose, who earlier made critically acclaimed films like Amu and Margarita With Straw, The Sky Is Pink is based on a novel of same name. While The Sky Is Pink makes a comeback for Priyanka Chopra, it is also an acid test for Farhan Akhtar who is suffering in his career as an actor since his last few films like The Lucknow Central and Rock On 2 has been a disaster at the box office. Though The Sky Is Pink had interesting trailer which has already garnered 30 million views till now. The early reviews have been great but the opening of the film is below par with just 10-15% occupancy in the morning shows across India.
As per trade estimates, The Sky Is Pink has opened somewhere between Rs 2-3 crore on its first day as the collections did not pick up much in the evening and night shows. The competition from WAR has been intense while Hollywood film, Joker, is still ringing bells at the box office. The earnings is expected to pick up on Saturday as this is a urban-centric film and should do well in the city multiplexes.
