Stacey Dooley has confessed she stole a dress she wore on Strictly Come Dancing.

The 33-year-old documentary maker, who won the BBC dancing show in 2018 with her now boyfriend Kevin Clifton, admitted that she “nicked” her glittery Show Dance dress.

Dooley told Susannah Constantine’s My Wardrobe Malfunction podcast: “I kept two of the outfits. I kept the Paso[doble] dress – I won in that – and the Show Dance dress. I was given the Paso and I nicked the Show Dance.

"I tell you what will happen now – my agent will get an email off the Strictly wardrobe saying, ‘Can we have the show dance outfit back?’”

The TV presenter – who was awarded an MBE in 2018 – also revealed she wore the same bra as 61-year-old 2017 finalist Debbie McGee.

Dooley said: “They recycle everything, I think I had Debbie McGee’s bra – because it had ‘Debbie M’ written on the cup.”

And the presenter admitted that while she usually dresses conservatively in big baggy clothes, she actually relished prancing around the dancefloor wearing next to nothing.

She said: “I really loved it actually. It was like total escapism. I really threw myself into it and the shorter the outfits were getting, the happier I was. You’re running about in a pair of sparkly knickers and a little bra and I loved it. I loved the music, the dancing, the outfits. It was wicked.”

Dooley – who split from boyfriend of three years Sam Tucknott after winning the BBC dance show – has been in a relationship with her professional dance partner Kevin Clifton, 37, since last year.

She said: “He’s very sweet. Someone pinched my glitterball at the wrap do, but Kev got another one made. It breaks my heart.”
