Scarlett Moffatt and Harry Redknapp are just some of the celebrities rumoured to be taking part in the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Every year, the rumour mill goes into overdrive as we draw closer to the launch date of the BBC contest, and this series is no exception with plenty of names touted as the class of 2019.

Amongst those said to be taking part are former I’m a Celebrity champions Moffatt and Redknapp, who certainly have some experience in drawing in the public votes after their successes in the jungle.

Moffatt has even quit her presenting role on spin-off show I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp, which clashes with Strictly, but as she won over 600 trophies as a young dancer and was even coached by Strictly pro Anton Du Beke before her Gogglebox fame, it’s possible her previous experience may put fans off.

Redknapp has thrown his future on the show into doubt, saying in May that he had given up on the idea after a disastrous trial run - but could he just be trying to throw people off the scent?

Radio DJ Chris Evans had gone as far as announcing he would be on the show earlier this year, and when pro dancer Kevin Clifton was a guest on is radio show, he even admitted he had a contract.

However, Evans has reportedly dropped out now, although the reason why is unclear.

Another name that keeps coming up is Alex Scott, the former England women’s footballer who now has a strong career presenting for the BBC.

She’s apparently being joined by ex-footballer Peter Crouch, whose wife Abbey Clancy won the show in 2013, and hapless BBC Breakfast sports reporter Mike Bushell who could follow in colleague Chris Hollins’ footsteps.

Ex-Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has been rumoured for a number of reality shows since leaving the soap, but as she’s previously talked about Strictly being her favourite, she could be a strong contender.

Other big names apparently visiting the sequinned section of the wardrobe department include Anneka Rice, Fearne Cotton, Alan Carr, and BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer has been mentioned as a potential contestant ever since she was shown in the audience at last year’s final, but reckons she’d be too embarrassed to do it.

She told The Sun: "They were like, ‘Maybe next year, Jodie?’ I was like, ‘Mmm, no, I don’t think so!

"I’d embarrass me, definitely!"

We could also be watching RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage, Spencer Matthews’ wife Vogue Williams, and socialite Tamara Ecclestone take to the dancefloor if the rumours are to be believed.
