Here are five home remedies that can provide relief in case of a toothache. Always remember to consult an expert if the pain persists.

Apply Some Clove Oil

According to lifestyle nutritionist Pratibha Pal, cloves attack disease-causing bacteria, while leaving the good bacteria unaffected.

Take a cotton swab or ball and put a few drops of clove oil on it. Put that cotton swab on the affected area for 5-10 minutes. Repeat this process after every 2-3 hours.

Rinse With Saltwater

Rinsing your mouth with saltwater can help in clearing the debris stuck in cavities and between teeth.

Go for Garlic

Pepper has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and kills the germs in your mouth. It is also a remedy for bad breath.

Take a pinch of pepper powder and salt. Add a few drops of water to the mixture to make it into a paste. Apply the paste on the affected area.     

If you have bleeding gums along with a toothache, take a little bit of asafoetida (hing) and mix it up with a little bit of water and lemon juice, says Kavita Devgan.
