Sujata Kumar funeral: Sister Suchitra Krishnamoorthi bids tearful farewell
Sujata Kumar, who is fondly remembered for playing Sridevi's sister in English Vinglish, breathed her last on Sunday night (August 19). According to reports, she was suffering from fourth stage metastatic cancer and had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital.
The funeral took place at the Juhu crematorium in Vile Parle on Monday, and the late actress's family and friends came to bid her an emotional farewell. Sujata's last rites were jointly performed by her daughter Kritika and sister Suchitra Krishnamoorthi.
Suchitra penned a moving obituary for her elder sister in a leading daily. "My sister practically raised me and was my best friend. She loved unconditionally and gave so much to everyone in her orbit that she would often run out of energy herself. But I never imagined that she would one day no longer be a part of my life; its unbearable to even think about," she wrote.
Apart from English Vinglish, Sujata has worked in films like Raanjhanaa, Salaam-E-Ishq and Gori Tere Pyar Mein. She has also featured in television shows like 24, Bombay Talkies and Hotel Kingston.
