The phrase - behind every successful man, there is a woman... stands true in the case of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor. The ageless couple has proved that love is the only thing that matters, and their extraordinary love story is no less than a Bollywood movie. Anil was a struggler when he had met the beautiful model, Sunita through a common friend. Throughout their dating period, Anil was struggling to make a name for himself in the acting world.
After the release of the film, Mashal, Anil had become an overnight star and it was Sunita, who had stood by him throughout his difficult time. After the success of Mashal, everyone in the industry had advised Anil not to get married as it would end his career in Bollywood. Anil had gotten influenced by them and had postponed his marriage twice. But destiny had other plans, fighting all the odds and hurdles, Anil had gotten married to Sunita on May 19, 1984, and had begun their beautiful journey. Since then, Sunita has been his pillar of strength throughout his good and bad times.
On March 25, 2021, Sunita Kapoor turned a year older, and Anil Kapoor penned a heartmelting birthday wish for his soulmate. Sharing some adorable pictures with Sunita, Anil revealed how she has been with him through the thick and thin of his life. These are just some of the million reasons I love you...You are the reason behind my smile and you are why our journey together has been so happy and fulfilled. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Anil Kapoor had talked in length about his marriage with Sunita, choosing between love and career, and much more. On being asked what the story behind their marriage is, Anil was quoted as saying, “I fell in love with her voice first. I thought ‘oh God, what a beautiful voice yaar, kya English bolti hai, pronunciation is so well’. I met her for the first time at Raj Kapoor’s house. She was so attractive, and if I may say, sexy also… she wore these gogo glasses, which are big, round and rimmed. Then we started chatting on the phone, and our friendship grew. First, it was a very platonic friendship, which developed into love. I started missing her when she wasn’t around. I had to speak to her, I felt a vacuum. I would travel by buses to meet her.”
When Anil Kapoor’s iconic film, Lamhe had completed 29 years, Anil had taken a trip down the memory lane and had shared a throwback babymoon picture with his wife, Sunita from the sets of Lamhe. Along with the picture, he had recalled how the outdoor shoot was his and Sunita’s babymoon as they were expecting their third child, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor. His note could be read as “I guess you’d call this our babymoon, right @kapoor.sunita?! This picture was taken during my outdoor shoot in London for Lamhe... @harshvarrdhankapoor, you were there too, preparing to come into this world #29YearsOfLamhe.”
Happiest birthday, Sunita!
