The Lion King and Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 held kept the momentum strong on Tuesday at the box office.
After the success of The Jungle Book, The Beauty And The Beast and Aladdin, Disney’s fourth installment is working wonders at the ticket window. Though the reviews from the critics have been negative to mixed, the fans of the The Lion King are showing at the theaters with families which is converting into a good moolah.
After the blockbuster The Jungle Book, Jon Favreau has taken over the responsibility of adapting The Lion King into a live-action film with CGI remake and features stars like Donald Glover, Beyonce Knowles-Carter and James Earl Jones who will be reprising his role as Mufasa.
The Lion King collected a massive Rs 81.57 crore in first week. Due to the release of new Bollywood, it dropped slightly on second Friday with Rs 5.35 crore but grew again with Rs 12.22 crore on Saturday followed by Rs 15.13 crore on Sunday. The collection was stable on second Monday with Rs 3.30 crore while Tuesday was super strong with Rs 2.95 crore , bringing the 12 days total collection to Rs 120.52 crore.
Super 30, had a wonderful first week with Rs 75.85 crore. Even though there was a big release last week in form of The Lion King, the student drama continued to win hearts of the audience in the second week with Rs 37.86 crore.
Super 30 18th day collection
Based on true incident, Super 30 faced two big releases – Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Judgementall Hai Kya and Dilijit Dosanjh and Kirti Sanon starrer Arjun Patiala but held well as it entered the 3rd weekend. The collection was stable with Rs 2.14 Crore on Friday. There was a good growth on Saturday with Rs 4.47 crore followed by another Rs 5.61 crore on Sunday. The student drama held very well on Monday with Rs 1.39 crore followed by Rs 1.25 crore, bringing the 19 days total collection to 128.57 crore.
