Hordes of Bollywood films hit the screens each year but only a handful among them create tremendous pre-release buzz. Here are the 10 most awaited movies that are slated to release in 2020.
The biggest challenge while making a list of the biggest blockbusters of the decade is to decide what the determining factor should be. As the period spans ten years, one cannot simply pick the ten highest grossers and proclaim them as the biggest blockbusters because the prices of tickets shoot up every year, especially for marquee, big-budget releases.Hence, the nett collections of -- for example -- a ‘Race 3’ released in 2018 are more than a ‘Dabangg’, which hit the screens in 2010, though the latter is a much bigger blockbuster. Hence, the ideal yardstick to measure the magnitude of Box-Office success of films is the number of footfalls. Footfalls are nothing but the number of tickets sold by cinema halls across India. So, a ‘Dabangg’ has more footfalls than a ‘Race 3’ and would have done much more business than the latter if released in 2018 because of increased ticket rates over the years. Here are the 10 blockbusters which released between 2010-2019 and struck gold at the turnstiles.Notes:1) ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ is excluded as it was a Telugu movie dubbed in Hindi. This list takes into account only Bollywood films.2) Footfalls are number of tickets sold within India.
While 2019 gave Bollywood a few big hits, there were also many opulently mounted films, carrying huge expectations, which bit the dust at the ticket counters.
National Geographic has unveiled the winner of its 2019 Travel Photo Contest.‘Winter in Greenland’ taken by Weimin Chu shows the fishing village of Upernavik in northwestern Greenland. The image reflects the multiple colours of Greenlandic buildings which were historically painted different colours so people could see what their purpose was when the landscape is covered in snow.“It felt so harmonious,” said Chu, who wins $7,500. “The whole land was covered by white, cold snow, and the blue tint at dusk made it even cooler. But the light from the windows, street lights and the family of three made the world warm again.”This year’s contest received thousands of entries from around the globe in three categories: Nature, Cities and People, which were judged by a panel of expert photographers and National Geographic staff. Huaifeng Li won first place in the People category with a photograph of actors preparing for an evening opera performance in Licheng County, China, while Tamara Blazquez Haik won the Nature category with a photograph of a griffon vulture soaring the skies in Monfragüe National Park in Spain.

For the 60th annual Grammy awards, celebrities are continuing to use their voices — and fashion — to promote the #TimesUp movement. On Sunday night, a number of attendees wore white roses, in one way or another, for an important reason.Following the Golden Globes blackout that kicked off awards season with a statement of solidarity, artists have found another way to express their unity around the cause of gender equality with a white rose. A group called Voices of Entertainment sent a statement to attendees of the event to explain the push to wear the accessory, writing, “We choose the white rose because historically it stands for hope, peace, sympathy, and resistance.”White carried the same powerful meaning throughout Hillary Clinton’s 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, as the candidate and her female voters often wore white as a nod to the suffrage movement. And now, on the red carpet, it’s adding an additional beautiful touch to all of the glamorous looks. From the evening’s host, James Corden, to first-time nominees Khalid and SZA, here are all of the stars showing off their white roses.Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for nonstop inspiration delivered fresh to your feed, every day.
