Meet the brave women from the Indian Armed Forces who are pioneers in their fields

The Armed Forces has traditionally been one of the most male-dominated professions in the world. It was only in the year 1992 that the Indian Armed Forces opened its doors to women in roles apart from medical ones, while in February 2016, the Indian government approved the induction of women in combat roles in all sections of the armed forces. In a move that is set to bring cheer to all those women who aspire to be a part of the armed forces, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated that it will ensure the permanent commissioning of women officers in the armed forces. Across the years, women have proven that they have all the grit and determination it takes to serve and succeed in any role. This International Women’s Day, let’s salute the brave women of the armed forces who have strived hard to break the glass ceiling.
