Taika Waititi has rubbished a story claiming that his script for Marvel superhero movie Thor: Love and Thunder has already been completed.
Kiwi director Waititi is currently working on the follow-up to his own Thor: Ragnarok, which will feature Chris Hemsworth returning to the role, but will also re-introduce Jane Foster as Mighty Thor - the character’s successor in the comics.
Natalie Portman, who was absent from Ragnarok, is set to reprise the role of Jane having appeared in 2011’s Thor and sequel Thor: The Dark World.
Responding to a Marvel-focused website’s claim, based on a Deadline report, that his script is already written, Waititi quipped that “the title page is complete”.

The same report in Deadline suggested that Waititi will shoot the film at the beginning of 2020.
As far as Disney has announced, Thor 4 is set to be the final movie in the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The decision to hand the hammer Mjölnir to Foster on the big screen mimics a recent comic book arc and introduces another female hero to the MCU.
Little else is known about the story that will be told in Thor: Love and Thunder, as Hemsworth’s character was seen leaving Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame.
Waititi has a packed upcoming slate, including sports documentary adaptation Next Goal Wins and his forever-mooted take on anime classic Akira.

His latest film, Jojo Rabbit, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this year and features Waititi as a ludicrous version of Adolf Hitler, imagined by a Hitler Youth child.
Thor: Love and Thunder is due to land in cinemas on 5 November, 2021.
