After a big holiday, Ajay Devgn starrer Tanhaji was superb and completed the first week on a grand note while Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak grew slightly stayed low.

Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior opened to a very good response and minted a solid figure of Rs 61.75 crore ( Friday – Rs 15.10 crore, Saturday-Rs 20.57 crore and Sunday – Rs 26.08 crore) in first weekend.
Tanhaji held well on first Monday (touched Rs 13.75 crore) as it received the favorable reviews from the audience as per BookMyShow which helped the collections get picked up on the Tuesday with Rs 15.28 crore. The historical drama grew well on Wednesday due to featival celebration across India, collecting Rs 16.72 crore. Tanhaji held very well after a big holiday, collecting in double digit figure of around Rs 11-12 crore and should end some where between Rs 117-118 crore. Since there are no major Bollywood releases this week, Tanhaji should remain the first choice of the movie goers. The budget of Tanhaji is Rs 125 crore (Production Cost: 110 Crore and Prints & Advertising Cost: 15 Crore) and has been released in 3880 screens across India
Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior tells the story of Tanhaji Malusare who was a military leader in the Maratha Empire and has fought alongside Maratha leader Shivaji Maharaj in various battles throughout the years. Tanhaji Malusare is popular for his role in the Battle of Sinhagad and is played by Ajay Devgn.
Chhapaak remained low even though there was a holiday in midweek. The earnings dropped heavily after a big holiday, consolidating the first week total on a low note.
Chhapaak received decent reviews as per BookMyShow.com which has led to an opening of just Rs 4.77 crore on Friday. There was slight growth on Saturday and Sunday with Rs 6.90 crore and Rs 7.35 crore, bringing the first weekend collections to Rs 19.02 crore.
However, the social-drama dropped heavily on Monday with Rs 2.35 crore. There was a slight growth on Tuesday with Rs 2.55 crore. Chhapaak was decent on Wednesday even though there was a holiday in few parts of India, collecting Rs 2.66 crore. The social drama dropped heavily on Thursday with Rs 1.5 crore. As of now, the total 7 days collections is Rs 28-28.50 crore which is below expectations considering the controversy, star power of Deepika Padukone who is collaborating with Meghna Gulzar (Filhaal, Talwar and Raazi) for the first time.
The budget of Chhapaak is Rs 45 crore ( Production Cost: 35 Crore , Prints & Advertising Cost: 10 Crore) and has been released in 1700 screens across India.
