Today’s Throwback Thursday he is bringing you one of the most famous interviews which is remembered by all by Cher to Jane Pauley. There are extremely rare cases in celebrities that can stand the test of time and Cher can be counted as one of them. Whether it be her incredible vocals or amazing movie roles, we can truly say that Cher is an icon across the board and a sassy one at that.

Cher’s no–holds–barred personality is one of the many reasons she’s been able to preserve such fame throughout her career in Hollywood. And though she doesn’t make as many headlines these days, we can’t help but remember her realms thanks to her interview back 1996 which is now going viral on Facebook. In the interview with Jane Pauley, where she discussed her thoughts on the absurd idea of “needing” a man.

At the 3:30 mark, Pauley questions the singer on something she once said, “A man is not a necessity, a man is a luxury.”

To which Cher said, “Like a dessert, yeah. A man is absolutely not a necessity.” Hearing this Pauley immediately questioned her motives if she meant to sound mean and bitter? To this Cher replied saying, “No not atall!! I love desserts! I love men! I think men are the coolest. But you don’t need them to live.” After this she says the single best anecdote of all time: Her mom once said, “One day you should settle down and marry a rich man.” To which she replied, “Mom I am rich myself.”

Later she ends it by saying, “My experience with men is great because I pick them because I like them. I don’t need them.”
