As we approach Independence Day, there is nothing better than music to up that patriotic quotient in you. With the country gearing up to celebrate its 71st Independence Day, here is our pick of the top 10 patriotic songs that you must listen to this Independence Day.

Insaaf Ki Dagar Pe: One of the most stirring patriotic songs of all times, Insaaf Ki Dagar Pe, from the 1961 film Ganga Jamuna, exhorts youngsters to walk on the path of justice and be the leaders of tomorrow. The song, which was composed at a time when a new nation was being built, finds much resonance today as well. Shakeen Badayuni penned the lyrics, while Hemant Kumar lent his voice to it.

Aye Mere Watan Ke Logo: Penned by poet Pradeep, just after India’s defeat in the 1962 India-China war, this beautiful rendition by Lata Mangeshkar, is said to have moved then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to tears. The song was a tribute to the war heroes and martyrs, asking the nation to leave behind the anger of the defeat. Today, more than 50 years later, the song still continues to be played at all important national events.

Mere Desh Ki Dharti: From Manoj Kumar’s 1967 movie Upkar, Mere Desh Ki Dharti remains one of the peppiest patriotic songs of all times. The song was composed by lyricist Gulshan Bawra and music director Kalyanji Anandji, while Mahendra Kapoor sang the hit song.

Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon: An extremely adorable, and intensely patriotic son, Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon, from the 1962 film Son Of India, has been a part of almost every Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations. While Naushad composed the music for the film, the lyrics were penned by Shakeel Badayuni. Though the film failed to do well at the box office, the song continues to be remembered even today.
