'Queen of Katwe' Actor Nikita Pearl Waligwa Dead at 15, Mira Nair Mourns

Nikita Pearl Waligwa, who starred in the 2016 sports drama Queen of Katwe, has died. She was 15. Waligwa had been diagnosed with a brain tumour, Deadline quoted Ugandan media.

Directed by Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair, the Walt Disney film charted the rise of real-life chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi from a Ugandan slum. She began playing chess at the age of nine and went on to compete in international tournaments. Nair on Monday mourned the death of the child actor who fought the "incurable disease" right till the end. “Farewell dearest Nikita. The heart breaks to see you gone, too young, too soon. You were such a fighter but this disease was incurable. The Pioneers and the Kool Kats of Katwe will always miss you, your light lives on in #QueenOfKatwe,” the director wrote on Twitter.

'Gunjan Saxena', 'Angrezi Medium' Get New Release Dates

Director Karan Johar and producer Dinesh Vijjan have announced new release dates for their films Gunjan Saxena, Angrezi Medium and Roohi Afza. Irrfan Khan-starrer Angrezi Medium will hit theatres on 13 March, with Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena releasing on 14 April and Rajkummar Rao’s Roohi Afza releasing on 5 June.

Karan Johar Reveals Poster of Netflix Original 'Guilty'

Director Karan Johar has tweeted the first look for Netflix original film Guilty. Actor Kiara Advani, can be seen wearing a septum ring, while her face carries a pensive look. A release date has not been mentioned. The trailer, however, will be out tomorrow.

'Love Island' Host Caroline Flack Dies by Suicide at 40

Caroline Flack, who hosted British reality TV show Love Island died at 40 by committing suicide. “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today, the 15th of February,” her family put a public statement. Their family lawyer shared that her body was found in her London apartment. Flack hosted the rather controversial reality show since its inception in 2015. She stepped down as host after being charged with assaulting her boyfriend, Lewis Burton. She denied the charge and was scheduled to stand trial next month. Scores of celebrities and people have expressed their condolences at her demise.
