HC Rejects Plea to Retrieve Jiah Khan-Sooraj Pancholi’s Messages

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed an application filed by late actor Jiah Khan's mother Rabia, seeking retrieval of messages her daughter and her actor-boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi exchanged on Blackberry messenger.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Khan, best known for her performance in film Nishabd, starring Amitabh Bachchan, was found hanging at her residence in Mumbai on 3 June, 2013. Pancholi has been charged with abetting Khan's suicide, reports PTI.

'Narcos: Mexico' Renewed for Season 2

Drug trade drama "Narcos: Mexico" has been renewed for a second season by streaming site Netflix.

Originally intended as a fourth season of "Narcos", which focused on the rise of the cocaine business in Colombia under Pablo Escobar and his Medellin Cartel, "Narcos: Mexico" became a new series, shifting the focus to the beginnings of the Mexican drug trade and how it became what it is today, reports

Season 1 charts the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm, unifying traffickers in order to build an empire, reports IANS.

Ali Fazal Confirms 'Mirzapur' Season 2

"Mirzapur" will have a second season, says actor Ali Fazal.

It will happen in 2019, said the actor who plays a gangster in the show.

On a possible season 2, Ali said in a statement: "Hopefully early next year. We are hoping to bring you back to the world of 'Mirzapur'. So early next year we would, but before season 2, I have some film commitments to finish both her and abroad and yeah, then after that we will begin."

"Mirzapur" is a nine-episode series produced under the banner Excel Entertainment. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Diveyndu Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Shweta Tripathi, reports IANS.

Sandra Oh, Andy Samberg to Host 2019 Golden Globes

Actors Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg have been confirmed to host the 76th Golden Globes Awards.

The ceremony, to be held on January 6, will officially kick off the award season in Hollywood, reports PTI.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced the hosts on Wednesday.

"We're excited to welcome Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg as co-hosts of Hollywood's Party of the Year. Both Golden Globe Award recipients have continually showcased their talents in film and television, and we can't wait to see what their undeniable chemistry will bring to the Golden Globes stage," said HFPA President Meher Tatna in a press release.

Priyanka Chopra's Investment in Bumble Aimed at Social Impact

Actor Priyanka Chopra's maiden venture as an investor in social and dating application Bumble, which has been launched in India, aims at bringing social change and women empowerment by letting only the woman make the first move in heterosexual matches.

India is the first country in Asia to get Bumble, which was founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd shortly after she left Tinder, a dating app she co-founded.

Herd told IANS here: "It was Priyanka Chopra's idea to get Bumble to India. We always had India on the radar but we thought it might be a long time from now. When Priyanka and I were sitting next to each other at a dinner, we were sharing our missions and visions about the planet, and what we care about. We realised we care a lot about the empowerment of girls and women around the world, and she said it's remarkable what you're doing with Bumble, and this is so important for India. Let's take it there."

Can’t Imagine Sequel Without Rajinikanth: ‘2.0’ Director Shankar

While the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is setting the box office blaze, fans are already awaiting news on the sequel to the ‘sci fi social’ as the director, Shankar calls it. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, he opened up about how the film was initially conceptualised with Aamir Khan as the protagonist and Arnold Schwarzenegger as the villain. He went on to speak about 3.0 .

“We definitely plan to make 3.0 but I can’t think of this franchise without Rajini Sir. He’s (Rajinikanth) the only name that comes to my mind when I think of Chitti,” says Shankar.

Uttarakhand HC Refuses Stay on 'Kedarnath' Release

The Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday refused to stay the release of forthcoming Bollywood film "Kedarnath", starring debutante Sara Ali Khan along with Sushant Singh Rajput.

Swami Darshan Bharti of Garhwal had demanded that the film should be banned. The High Court said Bharti should go to the District Magistrate of Rudraprayag with his complaint.

A single bench of Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was told the film should be banned as it was hurt people who were affected by the 2013 flash floods rhat ravaged Kedarnath besides hurting Hindu sentiments, reports IANS.

The petitioner pleaded that the film promoted "love jihad" -- a word coined by right-wing Hindu groups, to denote marriages between Muslim boys and Hindu girls.

Bollywood Vanity Van Owners to Go on Strike Over High State Tax

Bollywood celebrities are in for a different kind of makeover. The vanity van body -- All Camper Van Owners Association -- has decided to go in for an indefinite "non-cooperation movement" from December 10 against what its members called were "exorbitant taxes".

The strike will leave 250 vanity vans idle, around 500 workers of such vans without a job and a halt in shoots, which, in turn, is likely to hit over 5,000 workers who earn daily wages, according to a statement issued by the Association.

The Association said the strike was being called against the Maharashtra government's rule which charges tax from each van at the rate of Rs 1.25 lakh per annum. This is equivalent to tax charged on 5,000 square metres, reports IANS.

Madhuri Dixit In BJP's Shortlist To Contest From Pune In 2019

The BJP is considering fielding Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit-Nene from the Pune Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 general elections, the party sources said.

In June this year, BJP chief Amit Shah had met the actor at her residence in Mumbai during his party's 'Sampark for Samarthan' (Contact for Support) programme and briefed her on the achievements of the Narendra Modi government.

A senior state BJP leader today told PTI that the actress name has been shortlisted for the Pune Lok Sabha seat.

"The party is seriously considering giving candidature to Madhuri Dixit in the 2019 general elections. We think the Pune Lok Sabha constituency will be better for her," he said.

SIFFCY 2018 to Open With Priyanka Chopra Production 'Pahuna'

The fourth edition of Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFFCY) will commence with Sikkimese movie Pahuna - The Little Visitors, which has been produced by Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra's banner Purple Pebble Pictures. The film will be screened at the festival on December 10, reports IANS.

The film narrates the story of three Nepalese children separated from their parents and their journey back home. Directed by Paakhi A Tyrewala, it has won two awards at the SCHLINGEL International Film Festival for Children and Young Audience in Germany.

Santanu Mishra, Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation and Chairman, SIFFCY, said in a statement: "The cast has done amazing work in the movie Pahuna. With such impactful and unique films at the film festival, we look forward to enlighten the youth about issues that are influencing our general audience."

SIFFCY 2018 will focus on German cinema to bring global exposure to the audience and will also organise film making workshops, panel discussions with an objective to engage, educate and empower our children and youth. The festival will take place from 10-16 December at Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi.

Film Industry Has Woken up to Importance of Digital India: Varun Dhawan

Actor Varun Dhawan says the Indian film industry is now harnessing the power of the Internet to reach the masses.

The Badlapur actor, who connects to his fans via social media frequently, received the Best Digital Personality of the Year Award at the Digital Marketers' Awards by IAMAI and moneycontrol here on Wednesday, read a statement. Varun then took to answering a few questions, talking about trolls, media personalities and about India going digital.

He said: "Most of the youth is on the Internet. In fact, when I was shooting for my film Sui Dhaaga... in Chanderi, most televisions didn't work and there were no cinemas. But everyone had high-speed internet, which is probably how they know me; through my songs and videos on YouTube.”

"Digital India is way bigger than we think and our film industry has woken up to its importance and now uses it to reach out to the masses," he added. On his favourite social media personality, he said: "It is ‘The Rock', Dwayne Johnson. I think we all have something to learn from that man."

'Sacred Games' Gets New Cast Member

Actor Harshita Gaur has bagged a pivotal role in season two of crime thriller Sacred Games. According to a source, the casting of the show is almost done and Harshita is a part of it. "Shooting will continue throughout next month," added the source.

"I am a part of 'Sacred Games' season two. However, I am not in a position to say anything on the character yet," Harshita told IANS.

Harshita has become a popular face in the web series space. Her latest release Mirzapur is still streaming and she has been shooting for ALTBalaji's Punchbeat as well.
