Tata Motors started this year with a bang with the launch of the Harrier but the car-maker is not resting on its laurels as it is planning to launch some more models in the next few months.
The first one, the Tata Altroz premium hatchback, is due for launch during the festive season (around October). The Altroz was shown in concept form at the last Auto Expo while Geneva Motor Show saw the production version. Tata has stayed true to the concept's edgy style by featuring its evolved design language.
It will be the most premium hatch and positioned above the Tiago while the engine options would most likely be the 1.2 petrol and the 1.2 turbo unit from the Nexon. A 1.5l diesel will be there too. It remains to be seen whether the engines would be BS6 ready at launch. Just like any Tata, we expect good features and aggressive pricing plus the space is expected to be the best in class.
The other big launch, the Buzzard SUV, is scheduled for 2020. First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in near production spec form, the Buzzard will have a different name in the Indian market. It will be the 7-seater version of the Harrier, but longer and even more spacious. It will come with a BS6 engine. The automatic variant is also expected to debut. In terms of prices, do expect a slight premium over the Harrier.
