The #MeToo movement that kickstarted from the West, arrived in Bollywood last year and uncovered several unpleasant, hidden incidences. Many women came out in the open and shared their #MeToo incidents providing the strength and courage to other girls.
When we interviewed Ujda Chaman actress Maanvi Gagroo, we asked her if she too faced any such kind of incident ever and she started off by saying, “Not exactly, but I remember I had ran out of an audition that required me to do an attempt-to-rape scene in a sleazy office with just 2 men seated next in the room. The room, which they called as their office, also had a bed."
Maanvi stated that she was totally rattled and petrified and fearing for her safety, she ran out to save her life. Their attempts to convince her proved futile.
Meanwhile, Maanvi even spoke about how she almost did not do Ujda Chaman as the makers needed her to put on 15 kg for the role and she didn’t want to do that as she was shooting for 2 more projects simultaneously at the time (Four More Shots Please and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan).
Eventually, the makers cracked an alternative and went back to the actress with the offer wherein she would have to use padding, so she gave her nod. However, her woes didn’t end there as the padding was extremely uncomfortable and finally, a fat-suit was made for Maanvi, which finally made her life and role easier.
