Indian pacer Umesh Yadav faced a strain in his left calf muscle on Day 3 of the second Border-Gavaskar Test in Melbourne. He left the field in between the over and came under scanning later in the day. Indian bowling department was performing well and thus bowlers didn’t felt absence of Umesh Yadav in the rest of the innings.
BCCI in a statement said, “The fast bowler will not recover completely ahead of the remaining two Test matches and has been ruled out of the series.” According to sources Yadav needs more than two weeks for the recovery. After Mohammad Shami Yadav becomes second bowler to get ruled out from the series.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named T Natrajan as Yadav’s replacement,” BCCI mentioned in a statement. T Natrajan who was selected for the Australia tour as a net bowler and an extra option in case of injuries of the senior players.
Natrajan got his way in the limited overs format where India was struggling in ODIs Natrajan strikes and took important wickets. He made debuts in both ODI and T20I format on the same tour and now he has added in the Test Squad.
Earlier Mohammad Shami, the senior fast bowler of India suffered a hairline fracture in his right forearm. BCCI added, “Both Shami and Umesh Yadav will head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for further rehabilitation of their injuries.”
